Veteran’s Day happens on Friday, November 11, 2011 this year. Many businesses will be honoring those who have served or are currently serving by offering specials and discounts. Restaurants, stores, parks and a wide array of businesses will be participating.
Some specials are going to be offered on Friday, Veteran’s Day . Others are being offered over the entire weekend and a few will even be offered on Monday the 14th. Please be sure to check with the individual business be sure they are still offering the special as offers can be withdrawn for multiple reasons.
Most offer will require proof of service such as a VA ID or military ID you could even show them a copy of your DD-214. (be sure to cover up any sensitive information such as a social security number to protect yourself)
Golden Corral’s Tenth Annual Military Appreciation Monday Dinner
Golden Corral’s has been honoring those who served for years and this year will be no different. Their annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide.
If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to join us for Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday dinner. The free dinner meal is a special “thank you ” to any person who has ever served in the United States Military.
Applebee’s is offering a free meal, Friday, choose from seven mouth-watering entrees.
Chili’s is also serving up one of six meals for veterans.
Thirsty, stop in at Seven Eleven on November 11th for a free Slurpee from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Veteran’s Day 2011 starts early at Outback Steakhouse with a whole week of free Cokes and Bloomin’ Onions for military veterans and active-duty service members from Monday, November 7 through Friday, November 11.
Purchase a drink at a participating Hooters and veterans can score 10 free boneless or regular wings on November 11.
T.G.I. Friday’s on the 11th for buy one, get one free meals with proof of service.

Stores Offering Veterans Discounts
Veteran’s Day is everyday at both Home Depot and Lowe’s. They offer a 10 percent military discount everyday. Home Depot, the 10 percent discount on Veteran’s Day is for reservists, active duty personnel, retired military, veterans and their families. Everyday at Home Depot, retirees and active-duty get 10 percent discounts but not all veterans. Many local Lowe’s stores offer the 10 percent discount to veterans daily as well. Menard’s is also supposedly offering a discount to veterans on this Veteran’s Day. Be sure to check with your local store prior to purchase.
Sam’s Club locations across the country from the 9th through the 11th will be giving away 36,000 free Hugo canes to veterans tha t need assistance. No Sam’s Club membership required, quantities are limited – while supplies last.

The Dollar General on Veteran’s Day with a 10 percent discount to active-duty military, veterans and retirees. A coupon is available in the store circular or by asking a Dollar General employee. For online discounts at Dollar General from November 11 through November 13, use the coupon code VETERANSDAY to get 10 percent off.
Big Lots – 10% off your entire purchase with valid military or veteran ID.
Sears 10% discount Thursday and Friday, Nov. 11-12. The “Salute to Local Heroes” discount to all military, veterans, police, firefighters, teachers, and hospital staff. Offer is good for 10% of regular, sale, and clearance prices.
